Speaker:XING Yiqing(Assistant Professor, Johns Hopkins University, Carey Business School)
Description:The series will begin with a brief overview of social and economic networks, and the embeddedness of economic activity, drawing on studies by sociologists, economists, computer scientists, physicists, and mathematicians. We then will examine several basic concepts: how to describe and measure networks as well as empirical observations about network structure. Next, we will mention two major questions: (1) how networks impact behavior (including infection, diffusion, learning, peer influences, games played on network, and networked markets), and (2) how networks form (random network models and strategic formation models).
