Our Ph.D. Programs aredesigned to provide students with high-level skills in economic research anddevelop outstanding scholars for careers in research and teaching. At theSchool of Economics, students are challenged to ponder the most critical issuesin Economic research and to form new insights. We aim to train students to beinnovative, rigorous and encourage students to become exemplary teachers attop-tier institutions in China.
The economics Ph.D.program at School of Economics offers degrees in the following areas:Industrial Economics, National Economics, Economic History, Labor Economics,Regional Economics, Population Resources and Environment, World Economics,Western Economics and Political Economics. The standard duration for eachprogram is 4 years and students have the maximum of 6 years to complete theprogram including any periods of intermission and suspension.
For the students whosefirst foreign language is English, the minimum credit requirement is 38 points(including 34 points in required courses and 4 points in elective courses). Forthe students whose first foreign language is not English, the minimum creditrequirement is 40 points (including 36 points in required courses and 4 pointsin elective courses).
For the students who donot come from the Mainland China, Political Theory courses are not required andcan be chosen as the elective courses. The courses of Chinese (72 total hoursand 4 credit points) and Academic English are the required courses for overseastudents. Chinese Economy and Society (36 total hours in second term and 2credit points) is required and only available for oversea students.
