Description:The lecture present the evolution and revolution of the monetarysystem during the 19th century. This period was dominated by theimportance of the new mines of gold in the mid-19th c. (the GoldRush) and by the new mines of silver during the second part of the 19thc. The lecture is organised in 4 points:1. The new mines:Presentation of the gold and silver mines. 2. Consequences of the mines:The consequence was the development of new export of metal aroundthe world.3. The DAMINprogram:The DAMIN program Silver monetary depreciationand international relations was a program of studying the consequences of thearrival of silver on the market.Presentationof the analyses and the results of the studies.4. Shanghai maritime trade:Analysis of the registers of the harbor of Shanghai and of thetrade in China during the 19th c.
